A programme aimed at supporting university students
Promoted by bizkaia:talent jointly with the University of Deusto, the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) and the University of Mondragon/Mondragon Unibertsitatea (MU), the Talentia programme is targeted at the students with the highest potential at the three Basque universities, giving advice and support for insertion in the labour market, career development and engagement with the scientific, technological and business reality around them.
Talentia is targeted at undergraduate seniors with an excellent academic record and other skills identified and evaluated by university authorities.
The programme runs from mid-February through early June. During these months, students in the last year of university get useful one-to-one guidance and information on how to develop their professional career. Among other activities, they attend professional and sector meetings, pay technical visits, have direct contact with the work done at companies established in the Bizkaia Science and Technology Park (Zamudio) and attend workshops on employment and professionalism, the latter conducted in cooperation with Bilbao Metropoli-30.
It is, in sum, a set of tools that will help students plan their future, get to know the scientific, technological and business projects carried out in Bizkaia, and meet remarkable figures in the Basque business, science and social scenes.

Activities in the seventh edition (2015-2016):
This year, all the participants will have the opportunity to attend various training workshops, amongst which, after the good reception it had last year when it was presented for the first time, is the Entrepreneurship Workshop with BEAZ. This workshop deals with the fundamentals to approach the world of entrepreneurship, so that the talentias can look into this difficult and exciting journey from a basic but global perspective. The successful Internationalization Workshop will be repeated this year and for the first time it will be carried out together with the participants in the pioneering Competencies-Skills for Professionalism in Biscay Programme.
The Professionalism Workshop will also be held, together with Bilbao Metropoli 30, so as to know firsthand what being professional really is for the new generations.
The participants in the Talentia Programme will also have the opportunity to meet renowned professionals such as Koldo Saratxaga, Manuel Carreiras, Elena Zarraga or Iñaki Gabilondo amongst others.
Moreover, as in previous years, between 18 April and 6 May they will visit prestigious organizations such as for example: Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM); Biocruces; BTEK, Technology Interpretation Centre; Deloitte; Ede Fundazioa; Euskal Irratia Telebista (EiTB); Euskalduna Jauregia Bilbao; Euskaltel, S.A.; Gaiker – IK4; Guggenheim Bilbao; Idom; Itp, Industria de Turbo Propulsores, S.A.; K2K Emocionando (Ner Group); La Alhondiga; Lamiako Eskola; Lancor (Ner Group); Lauxeta Ikastola; LKS Group; Neiker-Tecnalia; Sarein (Ner Group); Tecnalia Research&Innovation…
A new feature this year is a conference by the prestigious economist and financier from Biscay Pedro Luis Uriarte, with the title “Bases of the Economic-Social Development in the Basque Country”.
There will also be sectoral meetings during the first fortnight in May and the students, according to their area of knowledge, will be able to talk with lecturers specialized in their respective academic fields. It is therefore a way to approach the working and professional reality of the sectors from the point of view of renowned lecturers with an extensive career.
Moreover, following the warm response of previous editions, a conference under the banner “Stick up for Yourself” will be held in the Dome Room of the Campos Theatre and David Martinez from Impronta Consulting will tell the attendees how to face the active search for employment and will give recommendations on how to attend a job interview, analyzing the necessary attitudes and skills.
